Why the Kruti Dev box shows English letters. Kruti Dev is a font, not an encoding. A Kruti Dev file stores ordinary Latin and Windows symbol characters, and the font draws a Hindi shape in each one's place: कमल is saved as dey. This site does not provide the Kruti Dev font, so that box shows the stored letters. Copy them into a program where the Kruti Dev 010 font is installed and selected, and they appear as Hindi.

Kruti Dev 010 stores glyph codes
Each key or Alt code is a piece of a letter: f is ि, k is ा, Z is the reph (र्) above a letter. स्थिति is stored as fLFkfr, in the order a typewriter prints, with ि first.
Unicode stores the letters themselves
Mangal, Nirmala UI, Noto Sans Devanagari and phone keyboards all use Unicode. The text is in spoken order, so it can be searched, sorted and read on any device without a special font.
What the converter does
It maps each Kruti Dev glyph to its letter, moves ि behind its consonant cluster, moves the reph in front of its syllable, joins half letters with ा into full ones and combines two-part vowels such as vks into ओ.

How to Convert a Kruti Dev Word File
For a .doc or .docx typed in Kruti Dev 010.
- Open the file in Word, press Ctrl+A to select the Hindi text and Ctrl+C to copy it.
- Paste it into the Kruti Dev box above and press Convert to Unicode.
- Press Copy under the Unicode box and paste into Word, Google Docs, WhatsApp or an email.
- In Word, set the font of the pasted text to Mangal or Nirmala UI. Any Unicode Devanagari font shows it; Kruti Dev 010 does not.
- Read the result once before you send it: a document that mixes English with Kruti Dev text needs the English parts left out of the paste (see the limits below).
Limits of Any Kruti Dev Converter
What a converter cannot know from the stored characters alone.
- English in a Kruti Dev file: Kruti Dev uses the Latin letters for Hindi, so an English word typed in the same font comes out as Hindi letters. Convert only the Hindi part.
- Other legacy fonts: Chanakya, Walkman-Chanakya, Shusha and similar fonts use different tables. This converter reads Kruti Dev 010; DevLys 010 shares most positions, but RSSB itself says some keys differ.
- Curly quotes: Word's AutoCorrect can turn ' and " into curly quotes, which the Kruti Dev 010 font draws as ष् and श्. The converter reads them as the font draws them.
- Typing slips that the font hides, such as a matra typed twice, may come through as two signs. Doubled reph and bindu are cleaned up.
- Text copied from a PDF made with Kruti Dev is often scrambled by the PDF itself; copy from the original Word file where you can.

No. The SSC CHSL 2026 notice says Hindi LDC/JSA candidates must type in Mangal font only, and an SSC addendum of 23 September 2026 applies the same rule to Stenographer Grade C and D. RRB NTPC still names Krutidev or Mangal.

DevLysCan I convert DevLys 010 text?
Mostly. DevLys 010 uses the same typewriter positions for nearly every letter and matra, but RSSB warns that some keys differ and no official key-by-key comparison has been published, so check the result.
