Artificial Intelligence, commonly known as AI, is one of the most important technological developments of the modern era. It enables machines and computer systems to perform tasks that usually require human intelligence, such as learning, decision-making, problem-solving, and language understanding. AI technology is being used in various sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation, banking, and scientific research. In healthcare, artificial intelligence helps doctors analyze medical reports, detect diseases at an early stage, and improve treatment methods. In education, AI-based tools provide personalized learning experiences and help students understand complex topics more effectively. Businesses use AI to analyze data, improve customer services, and make better decisions. Farmers are also benefiting from smart technologies that provide information about weather conditions, crop management, and soil quality. Despite its many advantages, artificial intelligence also creates challenges related to privacy, employment changes, and ethical use of technology. Responsible development and proper regulation are necessary to ensure that AI benefits society without causing unnecessary risks. Human skills such as creativity, emotional understanding, and critical thinking will continue to remain important even as machines become more advanced. Governments, researchers, and organizations around the world are working together to develop safe and reliable AI systems. With continuous innovation and responsible implementation, artificial intelligence has the potential to improve efficiency, solve complex problems, and create new opportunities across different fields. The future of AI depends on maintaining a balance between technological progress and human values while ensuring that its benefits reach people worldwide.
Free Online Typing Test – English & Hindi
Check your typing speed in 1 or 2 minutes, or practise a full 10 or 15 minute run for SSC, RRB, court and police skill tests. Set the test up in the panel above.
How to set up the test
Pick your passage
Passages are exam-style English and Hindi text with normal punctuation. Rotate through them rather than repeating one.
Choose English or Hindi
Choose Hindi in the Language menu, then Remington GAIL (the Kruti Dev keys) or Inscript. Use the layout your exam names.
Lock the backspace
Several exams disable correction mid-passage. Turn backspace off to train yourself to keep going past a mistake.
Match the exam clock
Use a 1 minute test for a quick speed check, and a 10 or 15 minute test to match your notification and build stamina.
Read the error breakdown
After you submit, the report separates full mistakes from half mistakes so you know which ones actually cost marks.
Qualify three sessions
Clear three qualifying sessions to unlock a verified PDF certificate carrying a QR verification code.
Typing Speed Required in Government Exams

| SSC CGL (DEST) | About 2,000 key depressions | 15 minutes | SSC CGL 2026 notice |

Hindi Typing Test: Kruti Dev 010, Mangal, Remington and Inscript
Kruti Dev 010
An older, non-Unicode font typed on a Remington-style keyboard.
Mangal with Inscript
Mangal is a Unicode font. Inscript is the Indian standard keyboard layout for it.
Mangal with Remington (GAIL)
The same Unicode font, typed with a Remington-style layout such as Remington (GAIL).
Which one you get depends on the exam. The MP CPCT Rule Book allows Remington (GAIL) or Inscript on Unicode; published coverage of the RRB NTPC CBTST names the Kruti Dev and Mangal fonts. Check your notice and practise only on that layout, because switching layouts resets your muscle memory. On this page, choose Hindi in the Language menu and pick the layout, or open the Hindi typing test, the Kruti Dev, Mangal or Remington GAIL test.
What Is a Good Typing Speed?
The speed your exam asks for
For a government skill test, a good speed is your exam's requirement. Most notices in the table above sit between 25 and 35 WPM net.
Held for the whole test
A 1 or 2 minute test shows your current level. A 10 or 15 minute run shows whether you can keep that speed and accuracy, which is what the exam measures.
On fresh passages, with a margin
Reach it consistently on passages you have not seen before, then build a margin of a few WPM for exam-day nerves.
What This Test Measures
What each number in your result means. Your exam's own evaluation rules decide your official score.
Gross & Net WPM
Gross counts everything typed. Net subtracts uncorrected mistakes — the figure your result depends on.
Accuracy percentage
Correct characters against total typed, updated live so you can feel accuracy slipping before the timer ends.
Key depressions
The raw count notifications actually quote, alongside its WPM equivalent at five depressions per word.
Full vs half mistakes
The practice report weights omissions and substitutions separately from spacing and capitalisation slips.
Time on task
A live countdown with the same pressure curve as the exam clock, including the final-30-second warning state.
Physical keyboard support
Works with a USB or OTG keyboard on phones and tablets, so you can practise on the hardware you own.
Mistakes That Cost the Most Marks
The report separates these for you. Fixing the first two moves your Net WPM fastest.
Skipping a line
Losing your place drops an entire line of words at full-mistake weight. Read one line ahead so your eyes never have to search for the position.
Stopping to correct
Every pause to fix a typo costs seconds you cannot recover, and in a backspace-locked exam the correction is not even possible. Type through it.
Wrong word endings
Plural and tense slips count as full mistakes because the word no longer matches. These come from reading too far ahead, not from finger error.
Spacing and capitals
Double spaces and missed capitals are half mistakes. Worth cleaning up, but never at the expense of the three above.
Typing Test Questions
What aspirants ask most about this test and how it is scored.
WPM SpeedWhat typing speed do government exams require?
It depends on the exam and post. SSC CHSL LDC/JSA asks for 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi in 10 minutes, the SSC CGL DEST is about 2,000 key depressions in 15 minutes, and the RRB NTPC CBTST is 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi in 10 minutes. The table on this page lists more; always confirm the figure in your own notice.
WPMHow is WPM calculated?
One word is counted as five keystrokes, including spaces. Gross WPM is the number of characters you typed divided by five, divided by the minutes taken.
EvaluationHow is Net WPM calculated on this test?
Net WPM subtracts the penalty for uncorrected mistakes from Gross WPM, so it is the number to compare with an exam requirement. Your exam may count mistakes differently, so read its evaluation rules as well.
AccuracyHow is accuracy calculated?
Character accuracy is the share of typed characters that match the passage. Word accuracy is the share of words that match exactly. The result shows both.
BackspaceShould I practise with backspace disabled?
Yes, at least a few sessions a week. Some tests, such as the RRB NTPC CBTST as described in its CEN 06/2024 instructions, do not allow editing keys. Stopping to fix an error also costs time you cannot recover. Use the Backspace control in the test panel to switch it off.
Hindi TypingShould I practise Hindi in Kruti Dev or Mangal?
Practise the font and layout your exam names. Kruti Dev 010 is an older non-Unicode font typed on a Remington-style keyboard. Mangal is a Unicode font, typed with either the Inscript layout or a Remington layout, and SSC accepts only Mangal from its 2026 notices. This test types Hindi in Unicode with Remington GAIL (the Kruti Dev keys) or Inscript.
FreeIs the typing test free, and do I need an account?
Yes, it is free, and you can take the test without creating an account.
CertificateIs the certificate from this test valid for job applications?
It records the speed and accuracy you actually achieved here and carries a QR code anyone can verify online, which makes it useful for resumes and skill verification. It is not a government-issued credential and does not replace the official skill test conducted by the exam authority.
DevicesDoes this work on a phone or tablet?
The test runs in mobile browsers and supports physical keyboards connected over USB or OTG. Since the real exam is always taken on a full-size keyboard, practise on one wherever you can.
