Create a Custom Typing Test
Generate a Hindi or English exam passage with AI on any syllabus topic, or paste your own text.
Add at least 10 words to launch — currently 0 words.
How to Build Your Custom Test
Three simple steps from topic or text to a real exam-scored typing test.
Choose your passage source
Pick English or हिंदी. AI writes a passage on the topic you give, or paste any text you want to practise on.
Set it up
Match the duration to your exam (5, 10 or 15 minutes), choose the passage length and, for Hindi, your keyboard: Remington GAIL, Kruti Dev or Inscript.
Review your passage
Edit it freely. 10 words is the minimum; around 150 gives a realistic exam-length run.
Your Test Settings
What the engine will use when you start. Change any of it in the builder above.
DEST Evaluation & Scoring Rules
How your practice score is worked out, the same SSC-style rules our exam mocks use, for English and Hindi.
Full Mistakes
A skipped word, a wrong word or an extra word typed counts as one full mistake (1.0).
Half Mistakes
Split or joined words, swapped words, and capital-letter or punctuation slips (a missing full stop or danda too) count as half (0.5).
Net Speed Formula
Net WPM = Gross WPM − (mistakes ÷ minutes). Net speed decides whether you qualify.
Keystroke Counting
5 key depressions make one word, so 2,000 key depressions in 15 minutes is about 27 WPM.
Government Exam Speed & Accuracy Benchmarks
Practice reference only. Requirements differ by recruitment, post and year; confirm the current official notification before choosing a target.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about creating custom typing tests, AI generation, and scoring formulas.
AI Passage GeneratorHow does the AI passage generator create realistic exam text?
Type a topic (e.g. "Indian Space Program" or "Judicial Reforms") and the generator asks an AI model to write one continuous passage in the formal style of government typing exam papers: plain sentences, full stops and commas, no headings, lists or contractions. You can edit the passage before you start.
Hindi AI PassageCan the AI generate Hindi typing passages too?
Yes. Choose हिंदी as the passage language and the generator writes the passage in Unicode Hindi (Devanagari), the text SSC and most boards use. Write the topic in Hindi (for example "भारतीय रेलवे" or "डिजिटल इंडिया") for a passage on that subject. Then pick your Hindi keyboard, Remington GAIL, Kruti Dev or Inscript, and type it with the same scoring as our Hindi exam mocks. A Hindi passage takes longer to write, often 20 to 40 seconds.
Passage Length & ClockWhat is the recommended passage length for 10-minute and 15-minute tests?
For 10-minute exams (like SSC CHSL or RRB NTPC requiring 30–35 WPM), choose 300–400 words. For 15-minute exams (like SSC CGL DEST requiring 2000 KDPH / 27 WPM), select 400–450 words. Practicing slightly longer passages ensures you never run out of words before time expires.
Custom Text & HindiCan I paste my own Hindi passages or legal court judgments?
Yes. Select "Paste Custom Text" and paste any English or Unicode Hindi text, such as newspaper editorials, court judgments, official circulars or technical terms you want to master. Hindi text is recognised on its own, and you type it on the Remington GAIL, Kruti Dev or Inscript keyboard you choose. Text copied from a Kruti Dev document looks like English letters; convert it to Unicode with our Kruti Dev to Unicode converter first.
DEST Evaluation FormulaHow are Gross WPM, Net WPM, and errors evaluated on custom tests?
This practice tool calculates Gross WPM as (typed characters ÷ 5) ÷ elapsed minutes. Net WPM subtracts weighted mistakes per minute. For example, 1,500 characters in 10 minutes is 30 gross WPM; 10 weighted mistakes reduce it to 29 net WPM. Use the detailed report to review mistakes. Recruitment authorities can use different evaluation rules; this result is a practice estimate, not an official exam score.
Save & Load PassagesCan I save custom passages for repeated practice drills?
Yes. After generating or pasting your text, click the "Save" button in the toolbar. It stores the passage in your browser local storage so you can easily click "Load" to practice the same challenging drill tomorrow.
Backspace RuleIs backspace enabled during custom typing tests?
Yes, backspace is enabled by default in custom tests to let you practice correcting mistakes smoothly. If you want to prepare for backspace-restricted exams like RRB NTPC or Allahabad High Court, you can also practice on our dedicated Exam-Wise Test modules where backspace rules are strictly simulated.
Typing CertificateCan I get a verified typing certificate from a custom test?
Custom tests are for personalized practice, error drills and stamina building. To earn a TypingHub practice certificate with QR verification, complete the three stages on our Typing Certificate Test page. It is not a government-issued qualification.
Free PracticeIs the Custom Typing Test generator completely free to use?
Creating and practising a custom typing test is free. AI passage generation has usage limits to keep the service available; if you reach a limit, wait and try again or paste your own passage. Paid structured courses are separate from this free tool.
