Artificial Intelligence, commonly known as AI, is one of the most important technological developments of the modern era. It enables machines and computer systems to perform tasks that usually require human intelligence, such as learning, decision-making, problem-solving, and language understanding. AI technology is being used in various sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation, banking, and scientific research. In healthcare, artificial intelligence helps doctors analyze medical reports, detect diseases at an early stage, and improve treatment methods. In education, AI-based tools provide personalized learning experiences and help students understand complex topics more effectively. Businesses use AI to analyze data, improve customer services, and make better decisions. Farmers are also benefiting from smart technologies that provide information about weather conditions, crop management, and soil quality. Despite its many advantages, artificial intelligence also creates challenges related to privacy, employment changes, and ethical use of technology. Responsible development and proper regulation are necessary to ensure that AI benefits society without causing unnecessary risks. Human skills such as creativity, emotional understanding, and critical thinking will continue to remain important even as machines become more advanced. Governments, researchers, and organizations around the world are working together to develop safe and reliable AI systems. With continuous innovation and responsible implementation, artificial intelligence has the potential to improve efficiency, solve complex problems, and create new opportunities across different fields. The future of AI depends on maintaining a balance between technological progress and human values while ensuring that its benefits reach people worldwide.
15 Minute Typing Test
A fixed 15-minute passage in English or Hindi, the length of the MP CPCT typing tests, SSC CGL DEST and the SSC CHSL DEO skill test.
Exams With a 15 Minute Typing Test
SSC counts key depressions; CPCT counts correct words. Confirm the standard for your post in your notice.
| Exam | Standard in 15 minutes | Language | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSC CGL DEST | About 2,000 key depressions | English only | Qualifying for all posts, with the notice's exemptions |
| SSC CHSL DEO / DEO Grade A | 8,000 or 15,000 key depressions per hour, by post | English | Separate from the 10-minute LDC/JSA test |
| MP CPCT English | 30 NWPM to qualify | English | After a 5-minute mock |
| MP CPCT Hindi | 20 NWPM to qualify | Unicode Hindi on Remington GAIL or Inscript | After a 10-minute mock |
Key Depression Targets Over 15 Minutes
Fifteen minutes is a quarter of an hour, so KDPH = key depressions × 4, and WPM = key depressions ÷ 75 (five per word, fifteen minutes).
| Key depressions in 15 min | KDPH | WPM | Words | Where it applies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2,000 | 8,000 | 26.7 | About 400 | SSC CGL DEST; SSC CHSL DEO posts at 8,000 KDPH |
| 2,250 | 9,000 | 30 | 450 | A 30 WPM speed held for 15 minutes |
| 3,750 | 15,000 | 50 | 750 | SSC CHSL DEO posts at 15,000 KDPH |
CPCT counts words, not keys. 30 NWPM over 15 minutes is 450 correctly typed English words, and 20 NWPM is 300 correct Hindi words. The actual-test passages in CPCT's official mock run about 400 words, and NWPM uses the minutes to submission: 400 correct words submitted at 13:20 is exactly 30 NWPM, while the same 400 left until 15:00 is about 26.7.

How DEST and CPCT Differ Inside 15 Minutes
The same clock asks for different habits.
Every key is checked
DEST counts correct key depressions against the passage, and the CGL 2019 notice capped input at the passage's word count. Clean keys matter more than finishing early.
Submit as soon as you finish
Submit opens only after the whole passage is typed. CPCT's instructions tell candidates to submit at once, because the submission time sets the speed.
Words compared by position
CPCT's screen compares typed word by passage word in order, so one skipped word or double space can turn every later word red. Its instructions warn about this.
An aligned report instead
The report here aligns your text with the passage, so a skipped word is one full mistake. For CPCT's own NWPM verdict, take the test on the MP CPCT page.
Building Endurance for 15 Minutes
Fifteen minutes is half again as long as most skill tests. Build up to it.
- Hold your target over two 10 minute runs on the same day before moving up to 15.
- Think of the run as three 5-minute blocks. At 10:00 you should be two thirds of the way to your target: about 267 of DEST's 400 words.
- Read the report for where mistakes cluster. If they gather near the end, slow slightly in the last block rather than pushing speed.
- Once a week, rehearse the CPCT order: English for 15 minutes, a 3-minute break, then Hindi for 15 on the layout you applied with.
Extra time for eligible candidates. CPCT gives verified PwD candidates 5 more minutes for each typing test. SSC CHSL LDC/JSA, EPFO SSA (2023) and DSSSB LDC allow 15 minutes instead of 10 for eligible PwBD or scribe candidates, so a 15 minute run is their real exam length. Check eligibility in your notice.
