Punjab & Haryana High Court Test — Exam Overview

Exam & practice guide

Punjab & Haryana High Court typing practice on this page uses a 10-minute session on English legal text. Clerk and similar posts in the High Court and the subordinate courts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh have included a typing test, but the recruiting body, duration, language, speed, error allowance and whether the test is qualifying are set by each advertisement.

The 30 WPM and 92% accuracy figures on this tool are TypingHub practice targets, not official qualifying standards. Check the recruiting body named in your advertisement and confirm your post and recruitment year before choosing a practice pattern.

How this exam differs

3 Points
1

A 2019 SSSC notice for subordinate-court clerks (U.T. Chandigarh) set English 30 WPM net in 10 minutes, worked out as (words typed − mistakes) / 10 on a 600–700 word passage. That test was qualifying and also had an Excel part. Later notices can differ, so confirm yours. There is no Punjabi Raavi paper on this page.

2

PSSSB state clerk is reported to need Punjabi 30 WPM on Raavi as well. Practising only this High Court page leaves that keyboard untested.

3

Practise it as a qualifying English sheet, then confirm the notice. It is not Delhi HC’s 40 WPM SPA/PA bar or the Supreme Court JCA pattern.

Check the Post Before Practising

3 Posts
  • Clerk (subordinate courts of Punjab, Haryana or Chandigarh): consult the advertisement for your recruitment year
  • Clerk or assistant posts in the High Court: check their own notice
  • Stenographer posts: separate shorthand and transcription rules apply

A shared practice tool does not mean all these recruitments use the same selection or marking rules.

Practice Scores and Official Qualification

  • Use this page’s speed and accuracy report to find weaknesses in your typing.
  • Use the advertisement issued by your recruiting body for qualifying speed, error allowance, whether the test is qualifying or carries marks, and accommodation conditions.
  • Do not convert practice error counts into an official examination score.

How to Use This Practice Page

What to confirm in your advertisement

  • iWhich body is conducting the recruitment and the typing test.
  • iThe duration, language and approximate length of the typing passage.
  • iHow errors are counted and whether the typing test is qualifying only.

How to use the 10-minute timer here

  • iTreat finishing the passage inside the timer as the first goal, then reduce errors.
  • iAt the 5-minute mark you should be past the halfway point of your target word count.
  • iRecord where you stopped if time ran out; that line shows how far your pace is short.

Preparation Tips & Strategy

Speed & Accuracy Strategy

1

Accuracy first

Hold your accuracy steady before pushing speed.

2

Daily practice

30–45 min daily is more effective than occasional long sessions.

3

Touch typing

Learn home row position and avoid looking at the keyboard.

4

Build a margin

Practise a little above the speed your notice requires so exam-day nerves do not push you below it.

5

Mock tests

Practise full 10-minute timed sessions regularly.

Content & Keyboard Tips

1

Read ahead

Train your eyes to read 1–2 words ahead while typing.

2

Legal terminology

Practise judgments, legal citations and section numbers.

3

Rhythm

Maintain a steady typing rhythm — avoid bursts followed by pauses.

4

Familiar content

Practise with court orders and petitions.

5

Error correction

Practise using Backspace efficiently without breaking rhythm, if your instructions permit it.

Exam-Day Rules, Accommodations & Common Mistakes

Check the official Punjab & Haryana High Court Test notice

  • iReporting time, identity documents, the keyboard and software provided, scribe or compensatory-time provisions, and how mistakes are counted are set by the recruiting body. The current notification and your admit card override any general advice.
  • iGeneral questions: Backspace rules, keyboard layouts and Hindi fonts are answered in the typing exam FAQ.
  • iRoutines and drills: scoring rules, accuracy drills and test-day routines are in our exam guides.

Reading Your 10-Minute Report

1

Simulate your notice

Once your advertisement is out, practise the exact duration and error rule it describes.

2

Track your own error rate

Note your error count per session and aim to bring it down steadily, whatever limit your notice sets.

3

Correction strategy

Fix obvious large errors as you go and keep the rest of the run steady.

4

Know the passage type

Practise judgments, statutes and petitions, which contain long words, names and citations.

5

Start slow, finish strong

Build rhythm in the first 1–2 minutes, then hold a steady pace for the rest of the session.

Understanding Your TypingHub Practice Report

Characters and words

  • iCharacter comparison: Ordinary incorrect, extra or missing characters carry full weight in the practice analysis. A single misspelled word can contain several character errors.
  • iCase and punctuation: Case-only substitutions and punctuation substitutions receive half weight. Added or omitted characters are counted separately.
  • iSkipped or extra words: The report identifies missing and extra words as well as character differences. Read the highlighted passage to understand each mismatch.

Using the result

  • iTwo accuracy measures: Character accuracy and word accuracy measure different things. A word counts as correct only when it matches the reference word.
  • iPractice targets: A practice pass or fail is based on this test’s configured targets. It is not a recruiting authority’s qualification decision.
  • iOfficial evaluation: Check the notice and evaluation instructions for your exact recruitment year, post and category. Do not convert this report into official examination marks.

Understanding Your Typing Practice Report

The arithmetic behind Gross WPM, Net WPM and key depressions. Your notice decides which of these it uses.

4 Measures

Gross WPM

Gross WPM = (total keystrokes ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. Letters, spaces and punctuation all count, and five keystrokes make one standard word.

Net WPM

Net WPM subtracts a penalty for uncorrected errors from Gross WPM. Two candidates with the same raw speed can end up several WPM apart.

Key depressions (KDPH)

Some notices state speed as key depressions. 35 WPM equals 10,500 key depressions an hour (35 × 5 × 60), and 30 WPM equals 9,000.

Full and half mistakes

TypingHub groups errors to help you review an attempt. Full and half weights in this report are practice feedback; use your recruitment's evaluation instructions for official penalties.

4-Week Practice Plan for Punjab & Haryana High Court Test

An adaptable practice routine, not a qualification guarantee. Repeat a stage until your accuracy is steady.

4 Weeks

Week 1: Accuracy base

Touch-typing drills without looking at the keys. Hold 95% accuracy or better and ignore speed for now.

Week 2: Build speed

Two timed five-minute runs a day. Raise your pace by two or three WPM only once accuracy stays steady.

Week 3: Full-length mocks

One full Punjab & Haryana High Court Test mock a day for the exam's full duration. Read the error report and retype the words you missed.

Week 4: Exam rehearsal

Practise at your exam's time of day, on a full-size keyboard, with your notice's backspace rule. Aim a few WPM above the target.
