The Public Distribution System (PDS) is an important component of India's food security framework, designed to ensure that essential food grains reach eligible households at affordable prices. Its effective administration requires accurate beneficiary records, reliable procurement arrangements, secure storage facilities, timely transportation, and transparent distribution through authorized Fair Price Shops. Government agencies procure major food commodities, maintain strategic reserves, and coordinate their movement from storage centres to different regions according to assessed requirements. The introduction of digital technologies has significantly improved monitoring of the supply chain. Electronic Point of Sale (ePoS) devices, biometric authentication, computerized stock registers, and online transaction records can help reduce duplication, identify irregularities, and improve accountability. However, technological systems must be supported by reliable connectivity and alternative procedures for beneficiaries who experience authentication or network-related difficulties. Food grain storage is another critical administrative responsibility because inadequate warehouses, excessive moisture, pests, and improper handling can result in significant losses. Scientific storage methods, regular inspections, stock verification, and timely transportation are therefore necessary to preserve the quality of essential commodities. Fair Price Shop operators must maintain proper records and follow prescribed procedures relating to allocation, distribution, pricing, and display of information. Grievance-redressal mechanisms provide beneficiaries with an opportunity to report short supply, overcharging, denial of entitlement, or other irregularities. Effective social audits and periodic inspections can further strengthen transparency at the local level. Food security also depends upon nutritional considerations, agricultural productivity, stable markets, and the purchasing capacity of vulnerable households. Climate variability, crop failures, transportation disruptions, and sudden increases in commodity prices may create additional challenges for supply management. Coordination among the Food and Civil Supplies Department, district administration, storage agencies, transport contractors, and local authorities is therefore essential for maintaining uninterrupted distribution. Public awareness programmes should inform beneficiaries about eligibility criteria, entitlements, complaint procedures, and available digital services. Accurate data analysis can help administrators identify underserved areas and improve resource allocation. Ultimately, an efficient Public Distribution System requires technological innovation, strong supervision, accurate documentation, responsible financial management, and citizen participation. Transparent food administration not only protects vulnerable households from food insecurity but also strengthens public confidence in welfare institutions and supports the broader objective of inclusive social development. The use of technology has brought important changes to this system. Digitised ration cards, biometric verification at fair price shops and online tracking of stock movement help reduce leakages and ensure that grain reaches the right beneficiary. Beneficiaries can check their entitlement and register complaints through helplines and portals. Yet officials must remain sensitive to practical difficulties, such as failed fingerprint verification among elderly persons or manual workers, and provide alternative methods so that no eligible family is denied its share. Regular inspection of shops and godowns, prompt action on complaints and social audits by local communities further strengthen the system.
PSSSB Clerk Test — Exam Overview
PSSSB Clerk typing practice supports preparation for Punjab clerical recruitment. Identify your advertisement and the languages it requires before choosing a typing routine.
This page uses a 10-minute timer, 30 WPM and 92% accuracy as TypingHub practice targets. SSSB Punjab’s 2022 typing-test instructions are reported to use 10 minutes per language, 30 WPM gross and up to 8% mistakes, with Punjabi in Unicode Raavi on an Inscript keyboard — confirm in your notice, including whether any category gets a different allowance. Confirm the Punjabi font, keyboard layout, language order and qualifying rules in your PSSSB skill-test notice.
How this exam differs
Punjabi preparation needs the input layout specified by Punjab SSSB; Hindi practice alone does not replace it.
The 30 WPM and 92% accuracy figures here are practice targets, not a verified current recruitment cutoff.
Punjab SSSB and SSSC court recruitment are different. Check the recruiting body on your application.

Understanding Your TypingHub Practice Report
Characters and words
- iCharacter comparison: Ordinary incorrect, extra or missing characters carry full weight in the practice analysis. A single misspelled word can contain several character errors.
- iCase and punctuation: Case-only substitutions and punctuation substitutions receive half weight. Added or omitted characters are counted separately.
- iSkipped or extra words: The report identifies missing and extra words as well as character differences. Read the highlighted passage to understand each mismatch.
Using the result
- iTwo accuracy measures: Character accuracy and word accuracy measure different things. A word counts as correct only when it matches the reference word.
- iPractice targets: A practice pass or fail is based on this test’s configured targets. It is not a recruiting authority’s qualification decision.
- iOfficial evaluation: Check the notice and evaluation instructions for your exact recruitment year, post and category. Do not convert this report into official examination marks.
Understanding Your Typing Practice Report
The arithmetic behind Gross WPM, Net WPM and key depressions. Your notice decides which of these it uses.
Gross WPM
Gross WPM = (total keystrokes ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. Letters, spaces and punctuation all count, and five keystrokes make one standard word.
Net WPM
Net WPM subtracts a penalty for uncorrected errors from Gross WPM. Two candidates with the same raw speed can end up several WPM apart.
Key depressions (KDPH)
Some notices state speed as key depressions. 35 WPM equals 10,500 key depressions an hour (35 × 5 × 60), and 30 WPM equals 9,000.
Full and half mistakes
TypingHub groups errors to help you review an attempt. Full and half weights in this report are practice feedback; use your recruitment's evaluation instructions for official penalties.
4-Week Practice Plan for PSSSB Clerk Test
An adaptable practice routine, not a qualification guarantee. Repeat a stage until your accuracy is steady.
Week 1: Accuracy base
Touch-typing drills without looking at the keys. Hold 95% accuracy or better and ignore speed for now.
Week 2: Build speed
Two timed five-minute runs a day. Raise your pace by two or three WPM only once accuracy stays steady.
Week 3: Full-length mocks
One full PSSSB Clerk Test mock a day for the exam's full duration. Read the error report and retype the words you missed.
Week 4: Exam rehearsal
Practise at your exam's time of day, on a full-size keyboard, with your notice's backspace rule. Aim a few WPM above the target.
