PSSSB Clerk Test — Exam Overview

Exam & practice guide

PSSSB Clerk typing practice supports preparation for Punjab clerical recruitment. Identify your advertisement and the languages it requires before choosing a typing routine.

This page uses a 10-minute timer, 30 WPM and 92% accuracy as TypingHub practice targets. SSSB Punjab’s 2022 typing-test instructions are reported to use 10 minutes per language, 30 WPM gross and up to 8% mistakes, with Punjabi in Unicode Raavi on an Inscript keyboard — confirm in your notice, including whether any category gets a different allowance. Confirm the Punjabi font, keyboard layout, language order and qualifying rules in your PSSSB skill-test notice.

How this exam differs

3 Points
1

Punjabi preparation needs the input layout specified by Punjab SSSB; Hindi practice alone does not replace it.

2

The 30 WPM and 92% accuracy figures here are practice targets, not a verified current recruitment cutoff.

3

Punjab SSSB and SSSC court recruitment are different. Check the recruiting body on your application.

Practice Targets and Official Standards

  • Use 30 WPM and 92% accuracy to track improvement in this tool.
  • Read the notice for mandatory languages, official speeds and the permitted mistake calculation.
  • A character-accuracy percentage in the practice report is not automatically the official mistake percentage.

Prepare for the Correct Punjab Clerk Test

Language preparation

  • iKeep separate progress records for English and Punjabi where both are required.
  • iConfirm the Punjabi input layout before spending time on keyboard drills.
  • iPractise names, dates and punctuation alongside ordinary passages.

Official instructions to confirm

  • iDuration, order and any break between language tests.
  • iUse of Backspace and Delete, and whether retyping is permitted.
  • iThe official error calculation and the role of the typing score in selection.

Focused Preparation

1

Practise each required language

Do not let a strong English result hide gaps in Punjabi preparation.

2

Keep the layout consistent

Once the official layout is confirmed, use it consistently for practice.

3

Read the error report

Review repeated character and word errors before increasing speed.

Exam-Day Rules, Accommodations & Common Mistakes

Check the official PSSSB Clerk Test notice

  • iReporting time, identity documents, the keyboard and software provided, scribe or compensatory-time provisions, and how mistakes are counted are set by the recruiting body. The current notification and your admit card override any general advice.
  • iGeneral questions: Backspace rules, keyboard layouts and Hindi fonts are answered in the typing exam FAQ.
  • iRoutines and drills: scoring rules, accuracy drills and test-day routines are in our exam guides.

Common Preparation Mistakes

Wrong recruitment

  • iConfusing PSSSB Clerk with SSSC subordinate-court Clerk.

Wrong input layout

  • iAssuming a font name alone specifies every keyboard setting.

Wrong score comparison

  • iTreating practice character accuracy as an official recruitment result.

Improve the Next Attempt

1

Repeat difficult words

Build a short list from the practice report and retype it slowly.

2

Compare like with like

Compare attempts using the same language, duration and correction settings.

Understanding Your TypingHub Practice Report

Characters and words

  • iCharacter comparison: Ordinary incorrect, extra or missing characters carry full weight in the practice analysis. A single misspelled word can contain several character errors.
  • iCase and punctuation: Case-only substitutions and punctuation substitutions receive half weight. Added or omitted characters are counted separately.
  • iSkipped or extra words: The report identifies missing and extra words as well as character differences. Read the highlighted passage to understand each mismatch.

Using the result

  • iTwo accuracy measures: Character accuracy and word accuracy measure different things. A word counts as correct only when it matches the reference word.
  • iPractice targets: A practice pass or fail is based on this test’s configured targets. It is not a recruiting authority’s qualification decision.
  • iOfficial evaluation: Check the notice and evaluation instructions for your exact recruitment year, post and category. Do not convert this report into official examination marks.

Understanding Your Typing Practice Report

The arithmetic behind Gross WPM, Net WPM and key depressions. Your notice decides which of these it uses.

4 Measures

Gross WPM

Gross WPM = (total keystrokes ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. Letters, spaces and punctuation all count, and five keystrokes make one standard word.

Net WPM

Net WPM subtracts a penalty for uncorrected errors from Gross WPM. Two candidates with the same raw speed can end up several WPM apart.

Key depressions (KDPH)

Some notices state speed as key depressions. 35 WPM equals 10,500 key depressions an hour (35 × 5 × 60), and 30 WPM equals 9,000.

Full and half mistakes

TypingHub groups errors to help you review an attempt. Full and half weights in this report are practice feedback; use your recruitment's evaluation instructions for official penalties.

4-Week Practice Plan for PSSSB Clerk Test

An adaptable practice routine, not a qualification guarantee. Repeat a stage until your accuracy is steady.

4 Weeks

Week 1: Accuracy base

Touch-typing drills without looking at the keys. Hold 95% accuracy or better and ignore speed for now.

Week 2: Build speed

Two timed five-minute runs a day. Raise your pace by two or three WPM only once accuracy stays steady.

Week 3: Full-length mocks

One full PSSSB Clerk Test mock a day for the exam's full duration. Read the error report and retype the words you missed.

Week 4: Exam rehearsal

Practise at your exam's time of day, on a full-size keyboard, with your notice's backspace rule. Aim a few WPM above the target.

Frequently Asked Questions (PSSSB Clerk Test)

3 Questions
ACCURACY

Is 92% the official PSSSB accuracy requirement?

It is the configured practice target here. SSSB Punjab’s 2022 instructions are reported to allow up to 8% mistakes (about 92% accuracy) at 30 WPM gross, but your current skill-test notice must establish the cutoff and its error calculation.

PUNJABI

Which Punjabi font and keyboard should I practise?

Use the font and layout specified for your advertisement. Confirm both in the PSSSB typing-test instructions.

RECRUITER

Is PSSSB Clerk the Punjab and Haryana High Court test?

No. PSSSB state recruitment and High Court or SSSC court recruitment have separate advertisements and skill-test rules.
