Bihar Police Typing Test — Exam Overview

Exam & practice guide

Bihar Police typing practice should begin with the exact post name. Posts such as Steno Assistant Sub-Inspector, data-entry and clerical cadres are recruited through different advertisements (for example by BPSSC or CSBC), and one timer, speed or accuracy threshold cannot represent every post.

This page uses a 10-minute session with a 30 WPM and 90% accuracy setting. These are TypingHub practice targets, not official qualifying standards. Durations, languages, Hindi font and keyboard layout, speed and accuracy rules and marks vary by advertisement — check your notification.

How this exam differs

3 Points
1

Bihar Police practice here runs 10-minute English and Hindi sessions. BPSSC and CSBC advertisements set their own speed and accuracy, so take the official figure from your notice.

2

Hindi practice can use Mangal or Kruti Dev fonts. Which layout the hall uses is a notice detail, so confirm it before you train one keyboard for weeks.

3

Steno ASI, DEO, and police clerk notices differ. Confirm whether your advertisement is qualifying only or carries skill-test marks.

Check the Post Before Practising

3 Posts
  • Steno Assistant Sub-Inspector: consult its own skill-test instructions
  • Data-entry and clerical posts: check the separate recruitment advertisement
  • Other police cadres: confirm whether a typing test applies at all

A shared practice tool does not mean all these recruitments use the same selection or marking rules.

Practice Scores and Official Qualification

  • Use this page’s speed and accuracy report to find weaknesses in your typing.
  • Use the authority’s notice for qualifying speed in each language, accuracy or error allowance, marks and accommodation conditions.
  • Do not convert practice error counts into an official examination score.

How to Use This Practice Page

What to confirm in your advertisement

  • iWhether English, Hindi or both are tested, and the duration of each session.
  • iWhich Hindi font and keyboard layout may be used.
  • iThe speed and accuracy rule for each language, and whether the test carries marks.

How to practise it here

  • iRun a 10-minute session in one language, rest, then a session in the other if your notice requires both.
  • iAt 30 WPM you need about 300 correct words in 10 minutes.
  • iPractise Hindi on the layout named in your notice, not the one you happen to know.

Preparation Tips & Strategy

Speed & Accuracy Strategy

1

Accuracy first

Hold your accuracy steady before pushing speed.

2

Daily practice

30–45 min daily, covering every language your notice requires.

3

Touch typing

Learn finger placement for the Hindi layout named in your advertisement.

4

Build a margin

Practise a little above the speed your notice requires so exam-day nerves do not push you below it.

5

Mock tests

Practise full 10-minute timed sessions in each language.

Content & Keyboard Tips

1

Read ahead

Train your eyes to read 1–2 words ahead while typing.

2

Hindi matras

Practise matras and conjunct characters on your chosen layout.

3

Rhythm

Maintain a steady typing rhythm — avoid bursts followed by pauses.

4

Familiar content

Practise with official notices, administrative text and general English.

5

Error correction

Practise using Backspace efficiently without breaking rhythm, if your instructions permit it.

Exam-Day Rules, Accommodations & Common Mistakes

Check the official Bihar Police Typing Test notice

  • iReporting time, identity documents, the keyboard and software provided, scribe or compensatory-time provisions, and how mistakes are counted are set by the recruiting body. The current notification and your admit card override any general advice.
  • iGeneral questions: Backspace rules, keyboard layouts and Hindi fonts are answered in the typing exam FAQ.
  • iRoutines and drills: scoring rules, accuracy drills and test-day routines are in our exam guides.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

During Practice

  • ✗Practising only English when your notice also requires Hindi
  • ✗Looking at keyboard instead of screen/passage
  • ✗Switching between Hindi layouts during preparation

During Test

  • ✗Spending too much time correcting minor errors mid-way
  • ✗Retyping completed portions unnecessarily
  • ✗Not confirming the selected Hindi input before the test begins

Mindset Mistakes

  • ✗Panicking after making initial errors — composure is key
  • ✗Not practising on your chosen Hindi layout before exam day
  • ✗Underestimating the importance of posture and hand position

Reading Your Report for Each Language

1

Compare like with like

Judge English against English and Hindi against Hindi; most candidates are slower in Hindi.

2

Keep one Hindi layout

Use the layout named in your notice throughout preparation; switching layouts resets muscle memory.

3

Correction strategy

Fix obvious large errors as you go and keep the rest of the run steady.

4

Watch the last minutes

Errors that cluster near the end of a 10-minute session show fatigue. Add longer sessions before pushing speed.

5

Confirm your post

Different Bihar Police posts are separate recruitments. Practise to the pattern in your own advertisement.

Understanding Your TypingHub Practice Report

Characters and words

  • iCharacter comparison: Ordinary incorrect, extra or missing characters carry full weight in the practice analysis. A single misspelled word can contain several character errors.
  • iCase and punctuation: Case-only substitutions and punctuation substitutions receive half weight. Added or omitted characters are counted separately.
  • iSkipped or extra words: The report identifies missing and extra words as well as character differences. Read the highlighted passage to understand each mismatch.

Using the result

  • iTwo accuracy measures: Character accuracy and word accuracy measure different things. A word counts as correct only when it matches the reference word.
  • iPractice targets: A practice pass or fail is based on this test’s configured targets. It is not a recruiting authority’s qualification decision.
  • iOfficial evaluation: Check the notice and evaluation instructions for your exact recruitment year, post and category. Do not convert this report into official examination marks.

Understanding Your Typing Practice Report

The arithmetic behind Gross WPM, Net WPM and key depressions. Your notice decides which of these it uses.

4 Measures

Gross WPM

Gross WPM = (total keystrokes ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. Letters, spaces and punctuation all count, and five keystrokes make one standard word.

Net WPM

Net WPM subtracts a penalty for uncorrected errors from Gross WPM. Two candidates with the same raw speed can end up several WPM apart.

Key depressions (KDPH)

Some notices state speed as key depressions. 35 WPM equals 10,500 key depressions an hour (35 × 5 × 60), and 30 WPM equals 9,000.

Full and half mistakes

TypingHub groups errors to help you review an attempt. Full and half weights in this report are practice feedback; use your recruitment's evaluation instructions for official penalties.

4-Week Practice Plan for Bihar Police Typing Test

An adaptable practice routine, not a qualification guarantee. Repeat a stage until your accuracy is steady.

4 Weeks

Week 1: Accuracy base

Touch-typing drills without looking at the keys. Hold 95% accuracy or better and ignore speed for now.

Week 2: Build speed

Two timed five-minute runs a day. Raise your pace by two or three WPM only once accuracy stays steady.

Week 3: Full-length mocks

One full Bihar Police Typing Test mock a day for the exam's full duration. Read the error report and retype the words you missed.

Week 4: Exam rehearsal

Practise at your exam's time of day, on a full-size keyboard, with your notice's backspace rule. Aim a few WPM above the target.

Frequently Asked Questions (Bihar Police Typing Test)

9 Questions
HINDI

Can I practise the Bihar Police Hindi typing test here?

Yes. Choose Hindi in the Language menu of this test. It sets the 30 WPM Hindi target, opens on Remington GAIL (the Kruti Dev keys) and lists Hindi passages. Keep your keyboard on English; the test types the Hindi letters for the layout you pick. Confirm the Hindi font and layout in your BPSSC notice.

SPEED

What is the Bihar Police typing speed?

It depends on the post and the advertisement. TypingHub uses 30 WPM as a practice target for both languages; the BPSSC or CSBC notice gives the official requirement.

VS UP POLICE

Is this the same as UP Police typing?

No. They are separate boards with separate notices. A historical UPPRPB Computer Operator document described 15-minute sessions, but check the current notice for either force.

SPEED WPM

Which speed should I practise for?

30 WPM is the TypingHub practice target on this page. The speed required in each language is set by the advertisement for your post; check your notification.

HINDI FONTS

Which Hindi font and layout should I practise?

Use the font and keyboard layout named in your advertisement or skill-test instructions. Do not assume a layout from a previous cycle or another website.

ACCURACY

Is 90% accuracy an official cutoff?

It is the configured TypingHub practice target on this page. Do not treat it as an official police cutoff; check your notification.

KEYBOARD & KEYS

Is Backspace key allowed during Bihar Police typing test?

Whether Backspace and Delete may be used is set by your recruitment’s typing-test instructions, so check them. This TypingHub mock allows Backspace by default so you can practise corrections.

MERIT & MARKS

Are Bihar Police typing test marks added to final merit list?

It depends on the post and advertisement; check whether your notice treats the typing test as qualifying or marks-bearing.

EVALUATION RULES

How are mistakes evaluated in Bihar Police typing test?

How mistakes are counted is set by your recruitment’s evaluation instructions. The full- and half-weight errors shown here describe the TypingHub practice report only, not an official marking scheme.
