Superintendent Typing Test — Exam Overview

Exam & practice guide

Superintendent typing practice on this page uses 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi in a 10-minute session, with a 95% accuracy target, as a TypingHub practice target for Superintendent and similar supervisory clerical posts.

There is no single official Superintendent typing rule. Many Superintendent posts are filled by promotion and have no typing test, and where a direct-recruitment test exists its speed, duration, accuracy and whether it is qualifying differ by state and department. Check your own advertisement for these details.

How this exam differs

3 Points
1

Many Superintendent posts are filled by promotion or have no typing test. Where a direct-recruitment notice does include one, use 35 WPM English or 30 WPM Hindi here as a practice target.

2

Passages are office notes, file notings, and administrative English. Court-judgment vocabulary belongs on JCA and High Court pages, not here.

3

If your notice includes a skill test, it decides whether typing is qualifying, the speed, and the accuracy accepted. Read that before relying on any practice score.

Practice Scores and Official Qualification

  • Use this page’s speed and accuracy report to find weaknesses in your typing.
  • Use your own advertisement or recruitment rules to see whether a typing test applies and, if so, its speed, duration, accuracy and marks.
  • The 35 / 30 WPM and 95% figures are practice targets set by TypingHub, not an official standard.
  • Do not convert practice error counts into an official examination score.

What 35 WPM at 95% Accuracy Means

The numbers on this page

  • i10 minutes at 35 WPM English means about 350 correct words; at 30 WPM Hindi about 300.
  • iA 95% accuracy target allows roughly one error in every twenty words.
  • iWhether typing marks count depends on the notice: many tests are qualifying only, but some boards, such as RSSB, award marks.

How to practise it here

  • iUse administrative and supervisory text such as office orders and circulars.
  • iAim for about 380 words in English so a few errors do not take you below 35 net WPM.
  • iProofread your attempt against the passage; at this accuracy level small slips decide the result.

A Routine for a High-Accuracy Test

1

Accuracy before speed

Hold 95% accuracy for full 10-minute passages before raising your pace.

2

Administrative vocabulary

Drill words common in office orders and circulars: hereby, competent authority, establishment, superannuation, sanctioned.

3

Build a speed margin

Once accuracy is stable, work toward 38–40 WPM English or 33 WPM Hindi to keep a margin above the minimum.

4

Punctuation and capitals

Designations, department names and dates are capitalised and punctuated precisely; practise them separately.

Exam-Day Rules, Accommodations & Common Mistakes

Check the official Superintendent Typing Test notice

  • iReporting time, identity documents, the keyboard and software provided, scribe or compensatory-time provisions, and how mistakes are counted are set by the recruiting body. The current notification and your admit card override any general advice.
  • iGeneral questions: Backspace rules, keyboard layouts and Hindi fonts are answered in the typing exam FAQ.
  • iRoutines and drills: scoring rules, accuracy drills and test-day routines are in our exam guides.

Using Your Report Before the Test

1

Count errors, not just speed

At 95% accuracy, more than about 17 errors in a 350-word passage is too many. Track the count each attempt.

2

Three-attempt check

Take three fresh 10-minute passages. If all three clear 35 WPM English (or 30 WPM Hindi) net at 95%, your level is stable.

3

Know your department

Superintendent posts differ between departments and states. Check the exact speed, language and accuracy rule in your notice.

Understanding Your TypingHub Practice Report

Characters and words

  • iCharacter comparison: Ordinary incorrect, extra or missing characters carry full weight in the practice analysis. A single misspelled word can contain several character errors.
  • iCase and punctuation: Case-only substitutions and punctuation substitutions receive half weight. Added or omitted characters are counted separately.
  • iSkipped or extra words: The report identifies missing and extra words as well as character differences. Read the highlighted passage to understand each mismatch.

Using the result

  • iTwo accuracy measures: Character accuracy and word accuracy measure different things. A word counts as correct only when it matches the reference word.
  • iPractice targets: A practice pass or fail is based on this test’s configured targets. It is not a recruiting authority’s qualification decision.
  • iOfficial evaluation: Check the notice and evaluation instructions for your exact recruitment year, post and category. Do not convert this report into official examination marks.

Understanding Your Typing Practice Report

The arithmetic behind Gross WPM, Net WPM and key depressions. Your notice decides which of these it uses.

4 Measures

Gross WPM

Gross WPM = (total keystrokes ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. Letters, spaces and punctuation all count, and five keystrokes make one standard word.

Net WPM

Net WPM subtracts a penalty for uncorrected errors from Gross WPM. Two candidates with the same raw speed can end up several WPM apart.

Key depressions (KDPH)

Some notices state speed as key depressions. 35 WPM equals 10,500 key depressions an hour (35 × 5 × 60), and 30 WPM equals 9,000.

Full and half mistakes

TypingHub groups errors to help you review an attempt. Full and half weights in this report are practice feedback; use your recruitment's evaluation instructions for official penalties.

4-Week Practice Plan for Superintendent Typing Test

An adaptable practice routine, not a qualification guarantee. Repeat a stage until your accuracy is steady.

4 Weeks

Week 1: Accuracy base

Touch-typing drills without looking at the keys. Hold 95% accuracy or better and ignore speed for now.

Week 2: Build speed

Two timed five-minute runs a day. Raise your pace by two or three WPM only once accuracy stays steady.

Week 3: Full-length mocks

One full Superintendent Typing Test mock a day for the exam's full duration. Read the error report and retype the words you missed.

Week 4: Exam rehearsal

Practise at your exam's time of day, on a full-size keyboard, with your notice's backspace rule. Aim a few WPM above the target.
