Banking Typing Practice — Exam Overview

Exam & practice guide

Build comfortable English typing on financial vocabulary, amounts and everyday office passages. This is an independent banking-themed practice tool, not an IBPS, SBI or other bank examination.

Bank recruitments have different selection stages. Do not assume that every clerical or officer recruitment requires a separate typing test. Check the named employer’s current advertisement before choosing a preparation target.

Practise Financial Text Carefully

Set up a session

  • iChoose a passage you have not memorised.
  • iRead amounts, abbreviations and punctuation before rushing ahead.
  • iKeep the same duration when comparing attempts.

Review the report

  • iLook for swapped digits and missed decimal points.
  • iSeparate unfamiliar vocabulary from keyboard mistakes.
  • iRepeat the difficult combinations, then test a new passage.

A Five-Session Practice Plan

1

Baseline

Complete one timed passage and record speed plus the most frequent errors.

2

Numbers

Practise amounts and dates slowly. Check decimal points and digit order against the reference.

3

Vocabulary

Type difficult financial words in short phrases instead of repeating a memorised paragraph.

4

Reading rhythm

Read a few words ahead while keeping your place in the reference passage.

5

Retest

Use a fresh full passage and compare accuracy before increasing your speed target.

Understanding Your Typing Practice Report

The arithmetic behind Gross WPM, Net WPM and key depressions. Your notice decides which of these it uses.

4 Measures

Gross WPM

Gross WPM = (total keystrokes ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. Letters, spaces and punctuation all count, and five keystrokes make one standard word.

Net WPM

Net WPM subtracts a penalty for uncorrected errors from Gross WPM. Two candidates with the same raw speed can end up several WPM apart.

Key depressions (KDPH)

Some notices state speed as key depressions. 35 WPM equals 10,500 key depressions an hour (35 × 5 × 60), and 30 WPM equals 9,000.

Full and half mistakes

TypingHub groups errors to help you review an attempt. Full and half weights in this report are practice feedback; use your recruitment's evaluation instructions for official penalties.

4-Week Practice Plan for Banking Typing Practice

An adaptable practice routine, not a qualification guarantee. Repeat a stage until your accuracy is steady.

4 Weeks

Week 1: Accuracy base

Touch-typing drills without looking at the keys. Hold 95% accuracy or better and ignore speed for now.

Week 2: Build speed

Two timed five-minute runs a day. Raise your pace by two or three WPM only once accuracy stays steady.

Week 3: Full-length mocks

One full Banking Typing Practice mock a day for the exam's full duration. Read the error report and retype the words you missed.

Week 4: Exam rehearsal

Practise at your exam's time of day, on a full-size keyboard, with your notice's backspace rule. Aim a few WPM above the target.

3

Repeat with a new passage

Retype your missed words, then try a fresh passage. For structured lessons and the available practice catalogue, see the typing courses.

Frequently Asked Questions (Banking Typing Practice)

4 Questions
FAQ 1

Is this an official banking typing exam?

No. It is an independent practice course. The recruiting bank or examination body defines the actual selection stages.

FAQ 2

Do all banking exams require 30 WPM?

No universal 30 WPM rule is claimed here. That number is this course’s practice target, not a requirement for every bank or post.

FAQ 3

Should I disable backspace?

You may use it as a focused accuracy drill. Whether correction keys are allowed in an examination must be checked in the relevant instructions.

FAQ 4

What should I practise besides speed?

Check financial abbreviations, decimal points, dates and copied figures. A fast passage with incorrect amounts is not good data entry.
